I believe for sure that the X-men derivate from the DP, but the levels of weirdness this comic acquires in some of their greatest exploits are teh base for the grand oeuvre that Grant Morrison did decades after. Drake & Premiani's work opened a whole new world of the strange in comics. Make no mistake: a lot of issues of the original run are the common trope that you can find about superheoric groups, but the episodes that gave the edge are just masterpieces.
