Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. DickMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Phillip Dick was an absolute visionary, and Ridley Scott took the best form this novel and put ir on the big screen. This is like reading the Akira manga after watching the movie: entering a familiar territory that's not so familiar. But all the things you love from the film are here. Deckard is somehow different, more passinate about collecting animals (preferred alive, because there are a lot of electric sheep and other wonders), but with the same moral dilemmas and a wife. Things with the andys (replicants) are weirder, much more detailed than in the film. Mercerism is an absolute nutty religion. Radioactive dead zones surround the megalopolis. Some turn of events are not particularly well done, but are well managed afterwards. A must for SF and Blade Runner fans.
