Codex Seraphinianus by Luigi Serafini
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
As someone said, "how you can assign a rating to a book that is not meant to be read?" But, as the author said in the text that accompanies the new edition, he wanted to give an adult reader the same enjoyment and wonder of a kid that cannot read but looks at an encyclopedia. On this Serafini succeeds astonishingly: the beauty, weirdness, strangeness, color, texture and imagination put into every single drawing of this book is beyond words. This book is pure art. Abstract, symbolic, dada... everything comes to mind when looking at this beauty. Worth every cent, and more.
